I came to Deep Creek in the '50's with my family for vacation.  When I was student teaching I met three fellow boy Scouts who had built a sailboat in Hopwood, Pa.  They offered to teach me to sail if I would haul their boat to Deep Creek.  That was in 1964.  In 1970 I got a job with Sandy Douglass building Flying Scot sailboats and moved to Oakland from Greensburg, Pa.  In 1974 I sold my interest in the boat company and started a land surveying business in Oakland.  In 1988 I moved to the lake where I live now.  I am mostly retired and spending time on the lake I love.
