Tom Craven

Co-Editor of The Dispatch

I have spent vacation time in Garrett County for more than 70 years, mostly on Deep Creek Lake. Following my retirement from the Circuit Court for Montgomery County we have been able to spend much more time here, living in the cabin my parents purchased in 1972 and cruising around the Lake. We hope to see that that the Lake remains quiet, safe and fun for all and continues to be a source of the County’s prosperity.

Morgan France

I came to Deep Creek in the ’50’s with my family for vacation. When I was student teaching I met three fellow boy Scouts who had built a sailboat in Hopwood, Pa. They offered to teach me to sail if I would haul their boat to Deep Creek. That was in 1964. In 1970 I got a job with Sandy Douglass building Flying Scot sailboats and moved to Oakland from Greensburg, Pa. In 1974 I sold my interest in the boat company and started a land surveying business in Oakland. In 1988 I moved to the lake where I live now. I am mostly retired and spending time on the lake I love.
